Squarespace Website Design & Development

A strategic Squarespace redesign for an established photographer, transforming a portfolio-only website into a polished, conversion-driven online presence that competes confidently in a saturated local market.

The Problem

After 15+ years in business, Britt’s website no longer reflected the level of experience or professionalism she brought to her photography work.

Her previous site was built on an outdated version of Squarespace and functioned primarily as a portfolio-only website, offering little context around her services or value. With minimal structure, no clear service explanations, and a basic contact form, visitors were left to figure things out on their own.

The site felt visually outdated, disorganized, and lacked the depth needed to compete in the saturated Baltimore photography market - ultimately costing Britt inquiries and bookings to competitors with stronger, more strategic online presences.

The Strategy

The goal was to shift Britt’s website from a passive portfolio into a strategic sales tool that showcased her work and guided visitors toward booking.

Key priorities included:

  • Creating a clear, intentional structure for her growing body of work

  • Introducing testimonials to build trust and credibility

  • Designing a site that felt bold, polished, and unmistakably intentional

  • Supporting inquiries with transparency and confidence

During a competitor analysis, we identified a major opportunity: while Britt had hesitations about displaying pricing, many photographers offering similar services in her market were listing starting prices and pairing them with invitations to inquire for full details. This insight helped shape a more strategic, confidence-driven approach to her offerings.

The Solution

We designed and developed a completely new Squarespace 7.1 website that balanced bold visuals with strategic flow.

The final site included:

  • A fully custom Squarespace website built from the ground up

  • Organized, expanded portfolio galleries for easy browsing

  • A dedicated Packages page with transparent, confidence-building information

  • Strategic page flow designed to move visitors from viewing work to reaching out

  • A clear, streamlined contact form to support inquiries

Visually, the design shifted away from a flat, white layout to a bold, saturated palette of black, red, and soft blue accents, creating a look that feels fun, personable, and professional while standing out in a competitive market.

The Results

With a more strategic structure and elevated design, Britt’s website now works with her business instead of holding it back.

The new site:

  • Positions Britt as an experienced, established photographer

  • Makes it easier for potential clients to understand her services

  • Builds trust through clarity, testimonials, and transparency

  • Competes confidently with other photographers in her local market

Most importantly, Britt now has a website that reflects the quality of her work and supports long-term growth, rather than functioning as a simple online gallery.

Are you looking for a website overhaul for your business?

This project is a great fit for established creatives whose websites no longer reflect their experience or support their sales.
